We've had a lot of experience when it comes to changing tires, repairing tubes, and replacing valve stems under "field conditions".
One particularly difficult task is holding the sidewall open (away from the rim), while we fitted a new tube or installed a new stem. What we needed was some type of levering device that we could hook on the sidewall of the tire, and lift the sidewall away from the rim so we had room for our fingers.
This is a great buy when you compare it to a Snap-on tool that does exactly the same thing, sells for $43... but it's so big it won't fit in your pannier. If a tool's not with you on the bike, it's worthless.
Whether your tires are tubeless, or they have inner tubes, you can travel the world knowing you'll have everything you need in the event of a tire mishap. Small things make a big difference.
