The resulting company was named “BestRest Products, Limited Liability Company (LLC)”. I filed my drawings and ideas with the US Patent Office and received Patent #6,659,547. Other patents are pending.
Not being completely satisfied with the Australian Model, I went to the workshop and emerged with a beautifully crafted billet aluminum model. It was truly a work of art but the costs to produce it were financially beyond what most riders would be willing or able to pay. So I redesigned everything again, moving away from machined parts and toward laser-cut and press formed parts. This reduced the costs to an affordable level and improved the products in several ways. Since then we've added two other models of BackRest.
When we weren't busy with these products, we somehow found time to design and produce the CyclePump. This compact 12-volt tire inflator is widely recognized as the world's finest inflator for motorcycle applications. It's used by many touring companies and it's carried by many notable motorcycle authorities. It helped set a round-the-world Guiness Record, and helped win the 2003 Iron Butt Ò Rally.
The latest versions of our BackRests, CargoRests, FitKit Mounting Brackets, ToolPlates, and R1200GS accessories are a blend of ideas that have evolved over time/ We've honed and perfected our products during thousands of miles on riding. We carefully test and fine-tuning each part and each product. We’re pleased with the final results and we’re confident you will be too. We stand behind every product we manufacture. We've recently begun selling other items which we don't make "in-house", but which are manufactured for us according to our specifications:
1.) The EZAir in-line tire gauge. This quality dial gauge has a lifetime guarantee, and can be used as a stand-along gauge or in-line with our CyclePump. It's absolutely the best gauge I've ever used, and the best part is the price - $25.00 !
2.) The StopNGo tire pluggers for tubeless tires. By general consensus they're the best tubeless tire repair kits on the market. We offer the full size Plugger for $40.00, and the Pocket Plugger for $30.00. We prefer the Pocket Plugger due to it's compact size and reduced weight.
3.) Centec AP-1 fuse panels. These compact fuse panels act as "routing hubs" for wiring 12 volt accessories. They're indispensible when you're wiring accessories to the R12GS (or other bikes).
4.) IPF lights and bulbs. We found an inexpensive alternative to Piaa and Hella lights. IPF is a major lighting manufacturer who has a widespread following in the 4x4 off-road world, but which has remained unknown in the motorcycle community. We plan to change all that.
