Your bike represents a substantial investment of money, time, and energy on your behalf. Accessories should reflect a level of workmanship, quality, and finish worthy of the BMW marquee. Our parts are fabricated to exacting ISO-9002 standards, using the West Coast’s (US) largest state-of-the-art Class 4 C02 laser, running from computer controlled programs. This process guarantees that each part meets our strict quality control standards.
The BackRest is an engineering marvel. Because it's strong, attractive, and unique it's sure to draw the attention of other riders. The BackRest is constructed from 10 gauge 304 stainless steel with a matte finish, thereby eliminating rust or corrosion. Quick release stainless ball-locking pins are used at the pivot points. Their oversized head rings are easy to grip when wearing gloves. All hex screws, washers, and nuts are also stainless steel. The cushioned BackPad is constructed from a 13-layer Baltic birch plywood plate, covered with high density foam and a hand-stitched vinyl cover. Leather covers are available for an extra $20. We use the Northwest's premier custom motorcycle seat manufacturer to fabricate these BackPads.
The CargoRests are crafted from aircraft quality 5052 aluminum plate with a black, non-skid powder coated finish. At the rear we've formed a small angle to keep your cargo in place. Below the cargo deck (on Models J and T) there's two longitudinal structural angles that provide added strength. You'll have no problems strapping on camping or other gear because there's ample slotting for a bungee or nylon straps. We've designed three models of the CargoRest so you'll have no problems selecting a model that will clear your panniers and meet your cargo requirements.
Fasteners and hardware for the BackRest and CargoRests are corrosion resistant 18-8 stainless steel. Metric socket cap screws are used at assembly points; the heads match the hex wrenches found in your bike’s toolkit. There's even two storage holes and rubber retainers so you can keep your hex wrench handy. Nylon insert lock nuts are used throughout to prevent screws from coming loose due to vibration.
Our ToolPlates share the same sturdy construction and finish as the CargoRests (5052 aluminum alloy plate with a black powder coated finish). One stainless hex screw holds the ToolPlate in place; that screw is "captured" to prevent loss. We use a special commercial grade polyolefin foam liner to line the the tool storage area. This thin but amazingly tough and puncture resistant folding liner takes the place of the stock plastic "tool tub" that came with your motorcycle.
