 CargoRest OverviewThere's three (3) models of the CargoRest. If we make a FitKit for your bike then you can mount any model CargoRest on your bike. Scroll down to select the CargoRest that's right for your needs.
The CargoRest is a luggage/cargo platform, providing several times more cargo carrying area than the stock BMW luggage rack. The CargoRest has a pattern of slots machined across the surface, allowing you to secure your cargo with a bungee cord or nylon straps.
Each motorcycle model has a different mounting system, which we call a "FitKit". You'll need to order a separate FitKit when you order your CargoRest. FitKits contain everything you'll need to mount the CargoRest, including all hardware, nuts, screws, etc. We even include any special hex wrenches which aren't included in your standard BMW toolkit. There's no cutting, drilling or other modifications to your motorcycle. Step-by-step illustrated instructions make installation fast and easy.

 Model C CargoRestModel C CargoRest (Compact Version) - Overall size is 50% larger than most stock BMW luggage racks. Overall size is 12" wide x 9" long. (27.9cm wide x 22.9cm long). Crafted from 1/8" aircraft quality aluminum alloy with a black non-skid powder coat finish.

 Model J CargoRestFits with standard BMW plastic panniers, older style "classic" Jesse bags and the new Jesse Millennium bags (Will NOT work with Touratech, Hepco-Becker, or Jesse Odyssey bags) Overall size is 16.75" wide x 15.5" long. (42.5cm wide x 39.5cm long). Crafted from 1/8" aircraft quality aluminum alloy with a black non-skid powder coat finish.

 Model T CargoRestFits with Touratech, Hepco-Becker, stock BMW, and all models of Jesse panniers. Overall size is 13.75" wide at the front (21" wide at the rear) x 15.5" long. (34.9cm front, 53.3cm rear, 39.5cm long) The Model T has cutouts to allow clearance for your pannier lids. Crafted from 1/8" aircraft quality aluminum alloy with a black non-skid powder coat finish.

 Mounting the System Mounting the BestRest System is an easy process and takes just a few minutes. Full instructions are included with each purchase. If you can turn a wrench, you can mount our BackRest, CargoRest, and ToolPlate. There's no permanent modifications and no damage to your motorcycle. There’s no holes to drill and no extra hardware is needed. All our products can be easily removed when you sell your bike or when you switch from one bike to another.
Describing the actual mounting procedures is much more difficult than the process itself. A picture is worth a thousand words; that’s why we include full instructions and assembly photos with each BestRest System we sell.

Fit Kits
|
 R11xxGS and AdventureYes, we have mounting hardware that allows you to mount a CargoRest on your R11xxGS or Adventure. The FitKits work with Touratech, Hepco-Becker, stock BMW, and all models of Jesse panniers. Choose any one of the three CargoRest profiles, depending on your saddlebag style.
The R11xxGS CargoRest mounts over the top of the stock luggage rack and is held in place by the passenger grab rail and two stainless steel bars that mount below the stock rack. Special fittings (GrabRail Bushings) are available if you choose to eliminate the passenger grab rail.
The R1150GS Adventure CargoRest also mounts over the top of the stock luggage rack but the hardware is redesigned to fit over the Adventure rack.

 R11xxRT CargoRests
We received numerous calls from riders wanting more cargo room or an alternative to the BMW top case. RT CargoRests mount to the stock BMW rear rack with no modifications. A quick-release, locking latch makes installation or removal a 30-second process. You can switch from the BMW top case to a CargoRest in less than a minute.

 F650 Funduro/F650GS CargoRestsF650 Funduro mounting brackets are made from 12 gauge steel, with a black powder coat finish. The brackets mount to your stock BMW luggage rack and hold the CargoRest securely in place.
The F650GS and Dakar FitKit utilizes a cleverly designed mounting and support system that reinforces the stock frame. Brackets mount to the underside of the frame, above the exhaust cross-over. The brackets are laser cut from 3/16" steel and have a black powder coat finish. The brackets are extremely strong and were carefully designed for simplicity of installation. Once in place they provide attachment points for the aluminum deck.

 R1150R Roadster CargoRests
This is the system Roadster fans have been asking for! This is a luggage rack that’s capable of carrying your traveling and camping gear. Plus, you’ll be able to mount a BackRest for the passenger!
Note: R1150RS Owners - Order BMW part #71602317608 (about $45) and you can convert the rear rack on your /RS so it will accept our /RT FitKit. Then you can mount a CargoRest and BackRest.

 R1200GS CargoRest
R1200GS CargoRest FitKits are designed to mount over the stock plastic luggage rack. No modifications are required to the motorcycle and it's a simple bolt-on operation that takes only a few minutes. When the CargoRest is in place it significantly strengthens the rear of the motorcycle. Static loads of over 200 pounds have been tested, but ( of course) for practical riding applications you should limit the cargo load to about 30 pounds.
Photo shows the Model C CargoRest, but of course all 3 versions of our CargoRest will fit.
If you're trading in your "old" R1100-1150GS for the new 1200, keep your BestRest CargoRest and BackRest because you can mount them on your new bike! All you'll need is a FitKit to mount the CargoRest.

 R1200GS Adventure Model T CargoRest
R1200GS Adventure Model T CargoRest FitKit is designed to mount on the stock tubular Adventure luggage rack. No modifications are required to the motorcycle and it's a simple bolt-on operation that takes only a few minutes. Static loads of over 200 pounds have been tested, but (of course) for practical riding applications you should limit the cargo load to about 30 pounds.
The Adventure Model T CargoRest and FitKit can be used with the passenger seat in place, and the EZRest or Classic2 BackRest can then be mounted for the passenger.
The Adventure Model T CargoRest and FitKit can also be used with the BMW TopCase, when the TopCase is mounted in place of the passenger seat. With this setup you'll have the best of both worlds when riding solo - a locking storage box AND a huge cargo platform for a duffel or other soft luggage.
The FitKit system for the Adventure will not accept the Sprint or the stainless steel Classic1 BackRests, and will not work with the Model C or Model J CargoRests.
If you're trading in your "old" R1100-1150GS for the new 1200GS Adventure, keep your BestRest Model T CargoRest and EZRest or Classic 2 BackRest, because you can transfer them to your new bike. All you'll need is a FitKit to mount the CargoRest.
