BestRest specializes in GS related products, but we still get calls for backrests designed to fit street bikes, and every now and then another manufacturer fills a niche we haven’t filled ourselves. This is one of those products.
Mike Gilbert designed a backrest system that fits the BMW R1200RT. We carefully checked it out and gave it the BestRest seal of approval. Features of the R12RT backrest include:
Easy, four bolt installation, no drilling, no permanent alterations to your bike.
Instant removal, simply pull the quick release pins and lift the backrest out. The brackets remain in place for the next time you need the backrest.
The backrest pad leans at a 70 degree angle with respect to the rack. Overall height from the rack to the top of the pad is 11 inches.
The frame brackets are machined from 6061 aluminum and black anodized. Frame rails are powder coated semi-flat black. Fasteners and other fittings are stainless steel. We highly recommend this setup for the RT riders out there
The backrest pad is crafted from marine grade vinyl with a high density foam core, and measures 7 1/2 inches high and 10 inches wide. There’s no interference with saddlebags or rack.
