BestRest's F800GS tank panniers are designed to fit Metal Mule engine protection bars (also commonly called "crash bars").
These tank panniers also fit:
- BMW R1200GS Adventure crash bars
- F800GS with SWMotech and Adventure Spec crash bars
- Suzuki V-strom with Givi crash bars

Fitment Note: These tank panniers also fit F800GS engine guards manufactured by SW-Motech and Adventure Spec. Fitment may be a tiny bit loose since the upper profile of their bars is different than Metal Mule bars, but they work OK.
These Cordura panniers slip over the top of the Metal Mule protection bars and fasten to the frame using nylon straps and buckles. The straps are extra long so you have options about how and where you attach the straps. We like coiling the straps around the bars a couple times, then around a frame member, then back to the buckle. This provides the greatest security. Fitment is quick and easy, removal takes seconds.

The bags close with a zipper which is covered and fully protected with a flap. Even if you forget to zip up the bag, the flap helps prevent the contents from jostling out of the bag on some bumpy trail.

Each pannier hold 4 liters. The tape measure shows actual dimensions, but we actually derived the practical volume by using dried beans. 4 liters of them.
So what can you carry in these panniers? On one side we carry our CyclePump, an EZAir Gauge, a Clear Shot lens cleaning kit, and other bits and pieces. On the opposite side we have room for a first aid kit, a BeadBrakR, an OilJug with fluids, some tire repair tools, or other necessities. Because these panniers are made from Cordura bag, don't put something in them that's sharp or would wear thru the fabric. Instead select items that are smooth, soft, and rounded.

There's space between the pannier and the exhaust port of the radiator, so air flow thru the radiator (and engine cooling) is not restricted.
