The typical lifespan of the SCMR-16 HID bulb depends on a number of factors. Many customers report a lifespan of about 400 hours, but your mileage may vary. If you run your lights a lot or use them as daytime conspicuity lights, you can expect to replace a bulb from time to time.
Trail Tech's warranty covers the bulbs for 3 months from date of purchase, regardless of "burn time". They do not offer a warranty based on the number of hours the lights are running. If your light burns out within 3 months, regardless of mileage or burn time, make a warranty claim with Trail Tech.
Like the tires on your bike, these bulbs wear out. However the amount of light you get from these bulbs makes the occasional replacement worth it.
To replace a bulb, unscrew the front of the light housing, remove the old bulb and put in a new one. The light housings are identical, so you can swap a flood bulb with a spot bulb, and vice-versa.
Bulbs are available in a Spot beam pattern (12º), or a Flood beam pattern (30º).
