The tubular frame of the stock center stand can catch on obstacles and stop the bike dead in it's tracks. We've been there...done that...didn't like it!

BestRest's R12GS Center Stand SkidPlate fits the R12GS only.  Another model is available for the R1100GS, R1150GS, and R1150GS Adventure (part R11GS-SP)

The .105" thick aluminum plate bolts securely in place on the center stand with two aluminum clamps and stainless steel screws. The bent and formed front edge prevents mud or foreign objects from packing in between the center stand and the exhaust system. The formed sides wrap around the center stand to prevent rearward and lateral movements. Should the underside of the bike come in contact with a rock or a log, the tapered design won't catch or snag. You'll be able to slide off most obstacles without damage.

We designed the Center Stand SkidPlate without fancy "air circulation" holes or other unnecessary cutouts. Although these cosmetic features look clever, they cost money, weaken the plate, and provide collection points for mud, sand, and gravel.

Compatibility Note:  The Center Stand SkidPlate (Arched model) is compatible with R12GS models that have the arched tubular center stand as shown at lower left.  Late issue 2006 R1200GS models and the R1200GS Adventure have a new, H-style design as shown at lower right.  Please have a look at your center stand before you order, and if you're not certain which style you have give us a call.

If your Center Stand has an arched design like the one on the left, then the Arched design will work.  If your Center Stand has a H-style design like the one on the right, then you must order the H-style (part number R12GS-CSSP-H.
