The tubular frame of the stock center stand can catch on obstacles and stop the bike dead in it's tracks. We've been there...done that...didn't like it!
This .105" thick aluminum plate bolts securely in place on the center stand with four rubber cushioned loop straps and stainless steel screws. The bent and formed front edge prevents mud or foreign objects from packing in between the center stand and the exhaust system. The formed sides wrap around the center stand to prevent rearward and lateral movements. Should the underside of the bike come in contact with a rock or a log, the tapered design won't catch or snag. You'll be able to slide off most obstacles without damage.

We designed the Center Stand SkidPlate without fancy "air circulation" holes or other unnecessary cutouts. Although these cosmetic features look clever, they cost money, weaken the plate, and provide collection points for mud, sand, and gravel.
If you have a late model 2006 R1200GS you may may have the H-style center stand.
If you have a new R1200GS Adventure you definitely have the H-style center stand.
Unlike earlier bikes with the arched design, the new H-style center stand has been moved forward several inches which makes it easier to put the bike up on the stand. Take a look at your bike's center stand. If it looks like an arch, then this part wont work (order part R12GS-CSSP-Arched). If it looks like an H, then this is your ticket to underside protection.
Compatibility Note: This Center Stand SkidPlate (H-style) is compatible with late issue 2006 R1200GS models and the R1200GS Adventure as shown at left. Please have a look at your center stand before you order, and if you're not certain which style you have give us a call.
